GT-R RaceROM Phase 7 – New Traction control, Launch control, 12 injector updates and more…

Ecutek RaceROM Phase 7 is here

Linney Tuning and the team at EcuTek are delighted to announce the release of Nissan GT-R RaceROM Phase 7, available for all GT-R models.

Ten years in the making, Phase 7 puts the EcuTek GT-R platform at the cutting edge of what’s possible with the stock ECU. Read on to see all the great features in this new release.

RaceROM Phase 7 update has the following feature updates

New Advanced Traction control system

Traction Control can play a vital role in the handling and dynamics of your GT-R. The OEM Nissan system is simply not suitable for higher than 600hp power and high level of wheel slip, it can be too intrusive harsh closing throttles or throwing an awd clutch overheat limp. Running in VDC-R mode can be more effective with stability control but can still suffer from the delayed response and throttles closing at the worst moments, sometimes dangerously so if in an overtaking situation. The driver is then faced with a 3rd option of turning the VDC off raising further the threshold for limp/throttle close but at the expense/risk of excessive wheel slip in many cases very high wheel slip causing tire wear, damage to drivetrain/FWD clutches.

7

The main principle behind slip based traction control is that a tyre provides the best load transfer when experiencing a small amount of slip. the simple way to look at it, is the ideal amount of slip is the one that gives the best result. As a simple guide for maximum straight-line acceleration in dry conditions, 10% slip is somewhere close to what we want, and for hard cornering, it’s closer to 2% and will vary between those depending on how hard the car is cornering, the surface, the tyre type etc.

Custom maps – adjustable user control

custom map 3 is Traction control wheel slip…. minimum on slider allows more slip, i.e dry / straight line …. maximum allows less slip for wet / corners

custom map 4 is traction proportional ….The Slip Error is multiplied by this gain to calculate the Traction Control System Torque Reduction. increase gain from min to max you would get increase the torque reduction for any given Slip Error, lower values of TC Integral Sum mean that TC Torque Reduction is reduced, meaning less traction control interference.  Gain is configurable against gear position.

custom map 5 is Traction control integral gain…..Integral correction is added to the proportional correction to give the overall Torque Reduction. The gain value is multiplied by the slip error to give an integral step value, which is added to the existing value of TC Integral Sum. The result is that the integral correction can ramp down and up to try and keep the slip closer to target.

ASNU 1650cc http://www.linneytuning.com/bosch-asnu-1650cc/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=bosch-asnu-1650cc Mon, 25 Aug 2014 16:03:14 +0000 http://www.linneytuning.com/?p=1411 as1

The wait is over! ASNU’s 1650cc high-impedance injector is here!

The long awaited ASNU 90/2000 high impedance performance injector, produced exclusive for ASNU by Bosch Germany, is now available after extensive development including overcoming multiple re-design challenges and exhaustive OE-spec endurance testing.

At 1650cc/min this Bosch EV14-based injector:
• is the highest flowing high impedance performance injector compatible with ALL fuels,
• can be driven with the saturated drivers found in every OE ECU and most aftermarket ECU’s.

Equipped with the stainless alloy valve found in all Bosch injectors produced for gasoline applications, this injector will be compatible with MTBE race fuels like Q16 and VP Import. In addition the ASNU 1650cc injector won’t be susceptible to the internal rust issues found in natural gas injectors, which occur when the water attracted by alcohol fuels separates causing rust that seizes the injector internals.

After passing multiple rounds of endurance testing in Bosch’s primary injector production plant in Germany, ASNU’s 1650cc high impedance performance injector has now been allocated an official Bosch OE part number along with its ASNU90/2000 part number.

We’re proud to say that our years of involvement in this project with the excellent team at Bosch in the Bamberg, Germany plant has brought us a purpose built injector to offer the performance market. This injector will certainly set the bar a notch higher. We also hope this will discourage owners from using other injectors that are not designed for performance gasoline applications.” says Phil Ellisdon, owner at ASNU.

With flow capacity of 2000cc/min or more at 5 bar (72.5 psi), this ASNU injector promises to be a great solution for performance motors running a variety of fuel systems.

This new ASNU 1650cc/min will be distributed internationally in two versions:

1. ASNU90/1650 which will feature ASNU proprietary diffuser plate system offering the best cone shape atomization and fuel droplet distribution of any performance injector anywhere near this flow rate.

2. ASNU90/2000, which is the same base injector without the ASNU diffuser plate, producing a less atomized spray pattern resulting in a narrower spray angle due to the unrestricted annular flow around the bottom of the injector valve (as is found in many other brands of performance injectors that are based on similar Bosch technology).

Due to its compact size, this injector will be available for all types of cars and engines, including the 53mm length as found in the Nissan R35 GTR and Mitsubishi Evo X, the often challenging 38mm “shorty” injector fitment of the Toyota GT86/Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ or the LS3 /LS7 from late model GMs, and also the traditional 64mm full length EV1 format which is still found in many cars today.

The ASNU90/2000 is available immediately, with the ASNU90/1650 and 1200/1300/1400/1500cc versions with a diffuser plate based cone spray pattern becoming available in the near future.

Tuned by Linney on EcuTek RaceROM.

“We did our first shake down testing last Friday (20.06.14) and from now on we shift from build phase into testing/development phase.
While it wasn’t a performance oriented test but rather shake down/system check testing – it was still a great deal of fun. Car is an absolute blast to drive and there’s huge potential. Time will tell if will be able to realize it but we’ll do our best within available resources.

Some minor teething problems showed up and that’s to be expected with such a complex car. Our engine cooling package worked flawlessly with temperatures (according to logged data) never exceeding 197F (92C) but engine oil cooling needs a bit more attention and we’re working on it. Tranny cooling package wasn’t ready at that point (being installed today) and as usual (at list it was usual for this particular car before we got to work on it) tranny was a bit on the hot side. Next testing session we aim to test our tranny and engine oil cooling solutions – fingers crossed.

We discovered that front edge of bonnet needs stiffening – it was rising a bit at speed. Already fixed it by adding sandwich stiffeners to the underside. Now it’s rock solid but became heavier by 320g

Aero worked great – in faster corners car was on rails but even in slower 2nd gear corners it was helping great deal. There’s still lots of work to be done on aero mapping and finding sweet spot in terms of ride heights etc., but it’s already evident that overall concept is working as expected.
We look forward to next testing date that should still be aimed at reliability testing and after that we should start working on performance side. First gathering data/learning the car and than steadily working on maximizing it’s performance.

With all our effort and dedication it would be impossible to do anything without support of – EcuTek and our technical partner Ben Linney from Linney Tuning It was a great joy working with Ecu teck and Ben is already famous in GT-R world for his expertise in engine tuning. All I can add is that I’m extremely excited and looking forward to move into testing/development stage with full support from Ben Linney and EcuTek.

We’re up for a great start of extremely exciting journey

Thanks

Ted”
